2021, an AI Odyssey. The Year-in-Review

Back to when dotmoovs was first mentioned. The date? May 9th.

That’s when the first blog post and tweet about dotmoovs came out. The first words written came in the form of a title: Introducing dotmoovs — a sports revolution fueled by a Blockchain and NFT powered platform. We just missed the word AI to have the triad that makes dotmoovs unique.

Sports, Blockchain and AI. With those three words we wanted to “push boundaries, defy limits, break records. We want people to be able to have fun and earn money while doing what they love the most. We want to give our athletes the control over their favourite sports”. And soon enough, we were pursuing that dream.

Backed by two major VCs that built quite a reputation in the crypto world, we were soon joined by other heavy weights in the industry. Less than 24 hours after our first tweet, we were already followed by the first 1000 moovers.

Not even a week later, dotmoovs C-Levels, Pedro (CEO), Salomé (COO) and Ricardo (CCO), we’re giving their first AMA — an overload of questions and curiosity from the community on the first official appearance of the executive board of dotmoovs.

Of course, the big moment everyone was waiting for was announced on May 13th: the IDO was being held on Polkastarter on May 25th.

The official launch

The road until the official launch, the IDO, was made by a series of impressive announcements. It was the pinnacle of more than 3 months working behind the scenes and a lot of information needed to be shared:

  • The roadmap was introduced;
  • The 1st ever competition was held (the winners got a place in the Whitelist);
  • The announcement of the integration with Binance Smart Chain was released;
  • The presentation video was released and with it the legends Luís Figo and Ricardo Quaresma were introduced;
  • The partnership with Polygon was presented;
  • The trading on Uniswap and Pancakeswap was presented.

And all of this in just 11 days before the IDO.

The rhythm stayed frenetic.

Elrond and BGA were next and dotmoovs was getting noticed by media outlets like Entrepreneur.com.

June

The following month was time to focus on what mattered: develop the technology and provide some fun times to the community — so that’s when we introduced our first tournament — the MOOV Euro Championship.

During this month, our users had the chance to interact with football star Ricardo Quaresma in an exclusive Telegram AMA and hearing in first hand that he would be launching his first NFT with us.

Although this was a great month overall, the most important topic was, naturally, launching of our MVP.

July

The buildup was increasing… Our roadmap pointed that we would release a beta version way later in the year, but the truth was, we were getting really good results with all of our testing models.

Meanwhile, on the corporate side, we were starting to think about how dotmoovs could be more involved with the community — how could we help others with our technology? Let’s face it, what we were developing could be used for great social works and to help less fortunate communities to show their potential or even provide a side income for them.

With that in mind, we reached out to UNICEF NZ — the charity within UNICEF accepting cryptocurrencies as donations — and we talked with our ambassador, Ricardo Quaresma, to do launch a special NFT and a lottery that would donate part of the profits to this charity.

Meanwhile, we were closing the deal on several conversations that had been going on — and so we presented important partnerships with projects such as Chainlink, Exeedme and others:

  • Partnership with Chainlink
  • Fundraise for UNICEF NZ
  • Partnership with Bepro Network
  • Partnership with Cudos
  • Partnership with Polkamarkets
  • Launch of Ambassadors’ Program
  • Partnership with Exeedme
  • Introducing Play2Earn on dotmoovs

August

The developing rhythm was quite frenetic at this point. The light at the end of tunnel was closer and we were getting confident that soon we could present the date to release our App’s Beta version.

We introduced Sports Mining to the World as well as the Legendary Challenges, important milestones to consolidate what would be the World of dotmoovs.

And so, the 27th of August came and the App was out! This closed beta allowed us to experiment and collect data from our first users, improving the system and its model.

  • Introducing Sports Mining to the World
  • 1st Sports AI NFT in the World
  • Featured on Mashable
  • Introduction to Legendary Challenges
  • Partnership with DIA
  • APP Release (Beta Version)

September

Following the idea of a virtual world that was touching reality (and vice-versa), our 1st NFT Collection was launched. These utility assets were premiered with the idea of closing the gap between our two communities — the sports fans and the crypto enthusiasts — which very often are different from each other.

  • 1st NFT Collection Launched
  • Launching Marketplace
  • Roadmap update
  • Listing on Bithumb Global

October

It was time to conduct a soft launch and open the app for a couple thousand people. Without too much fuss, we wanted to test the waters (and our technology) to make sure that everything would go smooth when letting a large number of users enter at once. And just before that, we moved away from our pink color (or magenta as some would call it).

  • Launching Sports Mining
  • Listing on MEXC Global
  • APP Soft Launch
  • 1st Live Events
  • AI Update
  • Rebranding

November

We waited two months before doing a bold move: opening the beta version to the world way earlier than expected. And not much later, we were doing our first Tournament in-app, bringing some of the best blockchain projects to our world!

It was then time to introduce another concept: NFT Renting. The plot was thickening.

This innovative concept was allowing, from then on, that even the less skilled could be part of the dotmoovs world. By giving people the chance to buy or rent a NFT, we were providing options to all our moovers.

  • APP Beta Version Release
  • 1st APP Tournament — MOOV The Block
  • Listing on Gate.io
  • NFT Renting
  • In-app Token xMOOV
  • AI Update
  • Roadmap Update

December

And then we reached the end of the year. It was time to bring the Holliday treats: first we brought the premiere of our Legendary Challenges with the Legend himself: Luis Figo. Then, we announced our second sport to be launched during the 1st Quarter of 2022: Dance. We brought a new professional player: João Teixeira. We introduced the first tournament where you could see what was happening, with live comments and putting our moovers representing their countries. And then, a second legendary challenge with the veteran Ricardo Quaresma.

But we saved some room for dessert: we introduced the first and special Evolutive NFT, the Jingle Ball. Given to the most active users in the app, this special treat is surely more than meets the eye. Let’s see what 2022 holds for it.

  • 1st Legendary Challenge
  • Dance-to-Earn presentation
  • New Player introduced: João Teixeira
  • World Football Day Tournament
  • 2nd Legendary Challenge
  • New Special Ball introduced: Jingle Ball
  • Introduction to Evolutive NFTs

And here you have it, a summary of all that has happened during an intense 2021. The best part is that we’re just starting…
